Mentoring and Testing

Explore, Learn, Engage

The Digital Bridges platform offers a wealth of resources designed to foster digital literacy in relation to education, training and social innovation. Here you’ll find learning materials, and interactive training materials and last but not least the chance for European exchange.
Our carefully curated curriculum is about digital literacy and provides different approaches.
This includes pilot testing , pre and post test, embedded in a mentorship and volunteers program.

Surveys and need analysis

Before developing the learning materials, a needs analysis was conducted with our target group, people aged 60 and over. A survey in four partner countries identified the areas in which older adults need the most support, as well as the digital skills they wish to improve.

Here you will find different surveys (questionnaires) to download and resend to give a feedback. Surveys are really important to see the needs of our target groups and to develop a program that fits

Curriculum Design

Based on the findings, a comprehensive report was compiled, forming the basis for curriculum development. This ensured that the curriculum and training program were tailored to the actual needs of the older participants. The report can be accessed here:  Click here

In addition to identifying gaps in the digital skills of older adults, the report also examined emotional and psychological needs such as anxieties, prejudices, motivational barriers to using technology and language barriers, particularly among older adults with a migration background.

Training materials

Study, try out, use
This part involves producing a range of training materials supporting the curriculum, including

These materials are designed to engage learners actively, incorporating quizzes and real-life scenarios to encourage the practical application of digital skills.

Following the allocation of modules, each partner organization focused on creating high-quality content. Detailed module and lesson plans ensure consistency and continuity across all training materials and serve as a guide aligned with the project’s learning objectives.

Module 1: Using digital devices: Guide to interacting with Android smartphones

This guide provides step-by-step instructions to help learners operate and use Android smartphones effectively.

Module 1: Using digital devices: Android smartphone icon poster

The visual representation of their basic symbols and functions helps learners to quickly recognize and understand their purpose.

Pilot Testing

We conduct pilot testing with a select group of elderly participants to evaluate the effectiveness and user-friendliness of the developed curriculum and materials. Feedback are gathered through surveys and discussions, focusing on usability, accessibility, and the overall learning experience. This feedback informs necessary adjustments to ensure the training materials meet the learners’ needs effectively.
Overall, elderly individuals are equipped with the digital skills needed for confident and safe navigation of the digital world, enhancing their independence and social connectivity. The activities are designed to be iterative, with continuous refinement based on participant feedback to ensure the highest relevance and impact.

The pilot project (2.5 hours) is open to all interested parties and is conducted by volunteers. It includes a welcome, a preliminary questionnaire, practical application of learning materials, feedback, and a group discussion. The aim is to collect data on usability, accessibility, and effectiveness in order to improve the materials before wider use.

Volunteers

Once the final version of the training materials is complete, young volunteers receive preparatory training as part of the pilot phase. These volunteers then train senior citizens in digital skills. Therefore, we have begun to comprehensively present our project to the volunteers and prepare the selection process.
